Transport Assessment & Studies
Many planning applications or development proposals have the potential to generate significant additional levels of trip generation on the adjoining highways infrastructure.Consequently, many Local Authorities now require the submission of a detailed Transport Assessment (formerly known as a Transport Impact Assessment TIA).
GCA has extensive experience of negotiating and working with Local Authorities in the development of Transport Assessments. The process is made up of two easily manageable elements:
1] Scoping Study to determine the LA requirements and existing transportation data
2] Preparation and submission of a full TA
By commissioning additional traffic surveys, speed surveys and preparation of preliminary scheme options, GCA are well placed to advise Developers of cost effective schemes that will achieve Highway approvals as part of the TA process. These measures are designed to minimise trip generation to integrate the final scheme with the existing infrastructure.
Typical TAs include both new build and extensions to the following:
- 4-10 dwelling residential developments off a single access
- Large residential developments
- Retail and industrial parks
- Schools, Colleges and Universities
- Factories
